"Wild Diamond is a French film by debuting director Agathe Riedinger, which competed in the main selection at the Anora would win the Palme d'Or). The plot follows Liane (Malou Khebizi), a young woman living in the margins of southern with her mother and younger sister, who dreams of becoming famous and loved by everyone. The opportunity comes when she auditions for a reality show called Miracle Island, but her beauty and stardom aspirations become increasingly destructive. This film addresses the hypersexualization of women as a weapon in an environment where there are no other options for them, with the psychological and social traps it entails. However, Riedinger’s perspective remains comionate throughout, offering a slightly more critical view of the sexualization of women than Anora does."
